A keel might be present, and it might or might not contain a light-colored stripe. There will be sharp serrations on the posterior marginals. Both distinct growing annuli and a delicate pattern of radiating striae may be seen on the carapace. The plastron has a notch in it. Some larger females can reach a straight carapace length of 7 inches, although most will typically be smaller, measuring 5 to 6 inches.

Feeding of Japanese Pond Turtle For Sale

With a tendency toward carnivory, this species is omnivorous. A diversified diet could include worms, insects, snails, shrimp, feeder fish, cat or dog food kibble, etc. Additionally, offer additional greens, vegetables, and even fruits, as well as aquatic plants. The floating turtle feeding pellets made for aquatic turtles are acceptable to this species. Offer a calcium source, such as boiled eggshells or cuttlebone.
